About Aperis

Aperis has been formed from a desire to provide clients with an independent source of professional building consultancy advice that enables them to make informed decisions, whatever their circumstances. By combining Building Surveying and Project Management with Access Consultancy we are able to deliver valuable information for building owners, landlords, tenants, purchasers and occupiers to advise on their property needs at the outset, during occupation and ultimately at the end of their occupation.

We are able to operate throughout the UK and have assisted clients with multiple properties in their portfolio through to single buildings. Whether you are a large multi-national or an individual (and anything in between), we are happy to help. We even work with other consultants and professionals helping to add value to their projects.

Our approach starts with gaining an understanding of our Client’s business and their needs and we listen to all viewpoints to ensure that what is proposed suits the needs and aims of the client to deliver them the best outcome. This may even mean providing a different service to one that was envisaged, it’s what’s best that matters.

At Aperis you will get access to all of our experience and knowledge and our projects are directly managed by a Director who will remain the central point of contact throughout. This approach ensures that you get the best from us so that our clients in turn get the best outcome possible.

Simon Turton

Aperis was founded and is headed by Simon Turton, who is a highly experienced Chartered Building Surveyor and Access Consultant, with 23 years and 13 years’ experience in each area respectively.

His experience has been gained by working within the commercial and Public sectors, previously working in numerous high level positions within UK Surveying Practices. He has worked for numerous private clients and companies and has headed and run large scale framework commissions for Local Authorities and public sector bodies, including Government organisations. Through this varied client base, Simon has a great depth of experience and is adept at understanding his client’s needs and requirements. The varied building types he has worked upon has provided a well-rounded and extensive knowledge of property across numerous sectors and across all aspects of Building Surveying and Project Managment.

Legislative and statutory compliance issues have also been a mainstay of Simon’s experience, ranging from Planning and Building Regulations, to the Party Wall Act and then to areas such as CDM and general legal obligations. Specifically, Simon is an expert in access and inclusion relating to the Equality Act 2010 (previously the DDA), along with the application of associated best practice design guidance in access and inclusion.

Simon has a particular interest in Inclusive Design Principles and how people interact with and use built environments. Inclusive Design places people at the centre of the overall process of design, although the designs for many built environments seek only to meet minimum legislative requirements.

Simon is the current Chair of the Management Board of The National Register of Access Consultants and he is a regular assessor on the NRAC admissions panel undertaking interviews for new members. He speaks at national events and undertakes training.
